Company History

Speech & Swallowing Specialists, LLC was established by co-owners Kristie Bryant and Christa Lantz.  Founded in 2006 as Western Kentucky Speech & Swallowing (WKSS), we were the first FEES provider in Kentucky and quickly expanded our service area to include neighboring states.  In 2010 we moved our headquarters to its more centralized location in Louisville, Kentucky and adopted the name Speech & Swallowing Specialists, LLC to reflect our growth from a local provider in Western Kentucky to a regional provider serving long-term care facilities in 4 states: Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Tennessee.

Our staff consists of licensed and certified speech-language pathologists with clinical privileges to perform Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), the only portable method of instrumentally evaluating swallow function.  We possess the knowledge and specialized skills required by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) to perform FEES.   Together, we offer nearly 20 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of individuals with neurogenic communication and swallowing disorders as well as more than 15 years of experience performing the FEES procedure on patients in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient and long-term care settings.
